Hi. How do you reinforce a spliced fiber optic cable? Just using a couple of layers of heat-shrink tubing with adhesive or combined with some kind of reinforcement?
I’m splicing a 6mm fiber connector kit to my 6mm fiber optic cable. The splice will be outside the tension strap to the ROV, so it must be able to handle some weight.
Hello,
You need to use 3M scotchcast. If water travels inside the sleeve it might go inside the ROV.
The splice must be inside the ROV with the tension strap on the tether.
Cheers,
E.
